Heike Caspary

Heike Caspary has had a passion for animals her entire life. She is the proud owner of Four Paws Doggie Day Camp. As a little girl in Germany she began working at a local dairy farm so that she could learn to ride horses. She bartered stall cleaning and manual labor so that she would have a chance to learn from the beautiful horses she worked around. After falling in love with horses, she grew to become a Dressage and Jumping competitor in horse shows. She also began teaching horseback riding. When she moved to the United States in 1994, she carried her love of animals with her. While raising her family she never neglected her passion for rescue. She worked in horse rescue and used her gift of intuition for animal behavior to help badly abused horses to trust again. She also raised her now 17 year old son, Marvin, to have the same love and passion. Marvin shadows Heike at Day Camp learning to work with the dogs and maybe someday even be employed by Four Paws Doggie Day Camp.

Sprinkles, a 11 year old female mixed breed crawled up to the Caspary family yard as a three month old puppy. She was riddled with mange, fleas and worms. Heike brought her to Braden River Animal Hospital where Vet Terry Clekis set her on the road to recovery. Having very little social interaction with puppies, Sprinkles began barking on the leash and lunging at other dogs. Not knowing whether it was aggressive or not, Heike had no place to socialize her in a healthy way. When Sprinkles was four years old, Heike began to work with Dog trainer Cheryl Tuttle (Last Paw) and Sprinkles finally had a chance for playtime with other dogs. Now Sprinkles is a regular at Day Camp and though she continues her rehabilitation, she now has over a dozen dogs she can call friends.

Josephine, a 7 year old female Great Dane, came to Heike from a breeder but was basically a rescue. She had very little socialization and therefore was fearful of anything new. Being good with dogs from the start, Jo has been a Day Camper since puppyhood.

When Heike got involved with South West Great Dane Rescue , she started to foster for them. This is how goofy Mr. Jackson,  a 8 year old Merle Dane became the latest member of the Family
